Wondering why Courtroom Battle Ray Stantz is priced at $25? Here’s your answer…

Many fans have voiced ill feelings towards Mattel for their $25 price tag on tomorrow’s Courtroom Battle Ray Stantz figure, feeling the price increase is unjustified and is simply a last minute gouge to fans.
Mattel’s Toyguru posted to the below response when asked about the figure on the MattyCollector.com forum, mentioning that low production amounts are the reason for the price increase.
It is 100% a matter of production cost. I understand it is frustrating my answers can be short, but it is a total matter of economics.
The fewer figures we make, the more it costs to make them. We based Ray’s production on the sell through at full price of the other recent figures. Due to this number being a little lower, we had to increase the price directly due to the higher costs it is to produce figures. This is the same for any consumer product. The fewer you make, the more it costs. Simple as that.

Since half of the contents is just a repaint, it couldn’t have cost them more to make this than the $20 or $22 figures.

The more it costs, the less I’m interested in buying it. Simple as that too.
