Ghostbusters hit North American stores last June, and while I absolutely loved the game that was finally released, I can’t help but feel teased regarding some of the levels and moments that were removed or just never finished.
Multiplayer levels: Sure, we didn’t get online campaign co-op (the actual story), but we did get a nice diversity in terms of levels and game options. Feeling like a good game session? Play some Survival. Something quick and simple? Slime Dunk is for you. We even got Protection, Destruction, Containment, and Thief thrown in for good measure, but back in October I saw a series of pictures that have driven me absolutely insane.
Slime! It’s a river of slime!
Yes, Ghostbusters II Van Horne Pneumatic Transit System was at one time going to be featured in the game. If that doesn’t make you wonder “what if?” then nothing will. We’re assuming it would have been a multiplayer map, as we’re not to sure how it would have fit into the original storyline.
Now, why am I all caught up over a series of early production shots? Well, there’s more than just these.
If the river of slime wasn’t for everybody, this one surely was. It’s the top of Dana Barrett’s apartment building, and fully features the coming of Gozer. Imagine a multiplayer setting where you had to not only take down two terror dogs, random ghosts attacking, but the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man scaling the wall. Sounds pretty awesome, huh?
Lost A.I.: The lost content goes way beyond this as well. I recall receiving a DVD in the mail last year that featured three videos showcasing several tech demos from the game. One was the in game A.I.

I’m not saying the A.I. is good by any means, but with only one mission in the full game featuring the streets of New York, this would have been a welcome addition, especially if it was used as a possible prelude to the Time Square level.
Parade Level: Several trailers also featured the Ghostbusters racing through Time Square during a parade sequence. This never made the cut either, but the PC version of the game had some early cut scene sequences that were still on the disc that showed off how it could have looked.

Oddly enough several of the ghosts that should have been featured in the parade wound up featured in the online multiplayer.
What we want to know is what would you guys like to have seen? Leave a comment below and tell us.

I remember this video and the being disappointed that there really weren’t many people, as in civilians in the game. Aside from the beginning of the library level there are no new yorkers. I’m interested in knowing the reason for this, surely they could have thrown a couple of dozen of pedestrians in at least the times square level…
Dana’s Apartment! With Stairs! That go UP!
We need some DLC for this game even if it’s the stuff that was cut out originally.

I think they need to bring these back as DLC stuff or make a part 2. I’d like an add on, at least let us keep our weapons after beating the game! Jezz! I loved the game and it was almost perfect
I have gotta agree!!! A river of slime level would be sick!
Agreed, since Resident Evil 5 has added new on-line missions, it would be awesome if Atari/Terminal Reality made the Gozer Temple and the River Of Slime as new on-line download co-op missions.
The river of slime and Dana’s apartment building would have been awesome multiplayer maps. I would have liked to have done the parade missions also. Watch the crowds run around.
Definately, the river of slime!!!
