To add a bit more fuel to the fire, Director of both original Ghostbusters films Ivan Reitman told People Magazine the following:

Ivan Reitman talks Ghostbusters 3 in 3D, film title and reboot

Fred Topel of CraveOnline recently had the chance to sit down and talk with Ivan Reitman. It didn’t take long for Ghostbusters to come up and we’ve got the highlights below!

On 3D and film title:

“Certainly there’s been a lot of talk about doing Ghostbusters 3 in 3D as well, and I don’t think we’ll call it Ghostbusters 3 either,”

On if the film will be a reboot:

“It’s not a reboot,” “It just lives in a world where the first two movies did occur and those characters were there and at least some of them will be in this film, but it’s really a different story.”

With regards to a possible female Ghostbuster:

“I have no comment.”
