Want the inside scoop on XMG Studio’s upcoming game, Ghostbusters Paranormal Blast? Check out the below interview we conducted with the games designer, Michael Brown.
What kind of upgrades can we expect to see with the equipment featured in the game?
There will be a bunch of really cool upgrades available for the Ghostbuster Recruit. To take down even more paranormal menaces Recruits can upgrade their Proton Packs to protect them from overheating as fast, enhance the impact of their Neutrona wand, upgrade the trap for better performance, adjust the Ecto Goggles to reveal higher level ghosts, increase the resilience of the Flight Suit and upgrade the PKE meter to upscale the radius of ghost detection on the map.
Will there be a free-play mode (don’t have to travel to the location on the map to play)?
Through play testing and research we discovered that most rookies wouldn’t want to travel to specific locations. Though this is still an option for the hardcore, all ghosts can be discovered and busted from the comfort of their favorite armchair.
Are you playing the role of a nameless Ghostbuster?
The player can choose from six Ghostbuster Rookie avatars: three lovely ladies and three ghostbustin’ gents. Users can input their own names to take on the role of a new recruit. This app really is as close as a fan can get to live the life of a true Ghostbuster.
Are there any Easter eggs in the game that some of the hardcore Ghostbusters fans will pick up on?
There are several inside jokes in the game that will keep fans of the franchise entertained as they progress.
What ghosts can we expect to see in the game (movie? cartoon? comic series?)?
We are launching Paranormal Blast with more than 14 absolutely stunning, high-quality 3d animated ghosts. Some are fiends you may recognize like Slimer and the Librarian ghost but be warned, there will be new foes to face on your way from Recruit to Commander.
Will all ghosts be caught primarily the same way?
The exciting augmented reality battle mechanic stays consistent throughout the game. This helps recruits perfect their ghost busting skills and increase their aiming accuracy to quickly move up in the ranks.
Are there special bonuses if you’re at a location used in one of the films?
Not in the version ready for launch. There will be more location specific ghosts in future updates.
Has a price been ironed out?
Due to the amount of premium content, Ghostbusters™ Paranormal Blast will be priced at $2.99. However, the game will be available for $0.99 on launch day to celebrate the release with all of you awesome Ghostbusters. Is DLC planned for the game?
Currently, there are no DLC planned for the game, but each update will be chocked full of new content and gameplay.
