Back in April, nDreams revealed Ghostbusters VR, an upcoming fully-fledged virtual reality game set to include a unique storyline centered around a new start-up franchise in the ghost-filled streets of San Francisco.
While this year’s Ghostbusters Day celebration did confirm that the game will eventually be available for Sony’s PSVR2, it’ll first release this fall on the Meta Quest 2.
If you’ve been holding off until after the game’s launch to pick up a headset, we’d strongly suggest grabbing one now, as Meta just confirmed a price hike is scheduled for next month.
The $100 jump, set to launch on August 1st, will see the Meta Quest 2 (formerly known as Oculus Quest 2) go from $299 to $399 for the 128GB model and $399 to $499 for the 256GB.
In addition to the headset, all Meta Quest 2 accessories and refurbished hardware will also see a price increase.
In a tweet posted by Meta, the price hike is said to as a way to “continue investing in moving the VR industry forward for the long term.”
To help compensate, all Meta Quest 2 hardware will begin coming with free copies of the $30 Beat Saber, one of the platform’s most popular and highly addictive games. This promotion is said to be for a limited time.
For Ghostbusters fans new to the world of VR, it should be mentioned that the Meta Quest 2 includes a highly immersive experience for games and watching television shows and films. For more on that, check out our below feature.
