Playmobil Ghostbusters Ecto-1A toy receives an incredible makeover

Earlier this year, we featured an incredible mod of Playmobil’s Ecto-1, altering the vehicle’s appearance to what can be seen in Ghostbusters: Afterlife and making it appear more like a replica model than a toy aimed toward children.

Ghostbusters fan Joseph Pajak caught the article, inspiring him to attempt something similar, but instead of fixating on the Ecto-1, he opted for Ghostbusters II much louder and flashier, Ecto-1A.

Before we show off the mod, above you’ll find a reminder of what that more than serviceable straight-out-of-the-box toy looked like, which made for arguably the best budget-priced Ecto-1A ever released.

Now, it’s time to dive into the fun part: the fan-made custom!

Likely the first thing you’ll notice is the vehicle’s more gloss finish, which manages to make it feel more like a classic model car, and also call attention to the pre-existing decals, comprised of the Ghostbusters II logo, various caution striping, and random text, including the in-universe phone number found on the vehicle’s backend.

Added chrome accents, a handful of part swaps, and small additions to the roof rack also help distinguish it from just another toy while keeping all the fun play features, including lights and sounds, intact.

Speaking of the lights, Joseph also sent along additional photos of the Ecto-1A, alongside a non-Playmobil Ecto-1, lights blaring, while also flexing his jaw-dropping collection of vintage Kenner Real Ghostbusters Ecto Glow Heroes action figures.
