Ghostbusters’ Ray’s Occult Books store gets rebuilt in LEGO

In 1989’s Ghostbusters II, fans were introduced to Ray’s Occult Books, a rundown establishment that the character of Ray Stantz opened following the city of New York serving him and his fellow Ghostbusters with a judicial restraining order.

Going on to be featured in numerous projects and other forms of media, most notably IDW’s now-defunct comic series, it’s only been over the past couple of years that the bookstore has been pushed to the franchise’s forefront, with Ray found still running the brick-and-mortar location in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, along with it being used within the Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed video game’s overworld hub.

For those that may not be too familiar, in Spirits Unleashed, Ray’s Occult Books has been conveniently moved next door to the Ghostbusters Firehouse, allowing players to not only catch up with Dr. Stantz but have access to the spooktacular ghost world thanks to the conveniently placed Tobin’s Spirit Guide.

In a new custom LEGO build by Ghostbusters fan Brother Bear Bricks comes an incredible recreation of Ray’s Occult Books, inspired by the store’s appearance as seen in Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed.

Being made to scale perfectly for display next to the officially released LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse, fans of the franchise, particularly players of the latest video game, will likely get a kick out of the brick-based homage. We love the exterior, especially the side alleyway and the neon-laden Ray’s Occult Books sign seen within the storefront window.

Initially made to be in Minifigure scale, Brother Bear Bricks did note that it was later changed to be more of a display piece, and while there are plans to add-ons like additional floors, we feel it’s pretty much perfect the way it is.

The coolest part of this custom build is that complete plans are available for purchase through Rebrickable at $25. Obviously, this doesn’t include the 4,000+ bricks needed; however, they’re easily attainable through the product page, with Rebrickable doing all the legwork, scanning third-party sale sites such as BrickLink and BrickOwl, making for easy checkout.
