Guide to unlocking Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed’s Real Ghostbusters equipment shells

With the recent release of Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed‘s first free DLC add-on, comprised of a new map, a gluttonous playable Ghost, various gameplay changes, and the introduction to additional gear and cosmetics, the game has received renewed interest from players, with many praising Illfonic’s commitment to fans’ demand.

During this weekend’s Ghostbusters News YouTube live streams, I noticed several viewers mention how they were having issues completing the contracts needed to unlock the pack’s most-talked-about addition, The Real Ghostbusters equipment shells. Given that some of the contract requirements depend on an enemy’s actions or, instead, simply finding hidden objects and rifts, many questioned exactly how I unlocked everything so quickly, with today’s feature serving up an easy-to-follow step-by-step guide.

Being tied to four unique research contracts, each comprised of two goals, the game allows players to unlock the cartoon-inspired cosmetics by playing online or in AI-bot-filled private matches, with the later speeding the process considerably. Using the methods shown in today’s video, I was able to marathon all of The Real Ghostbusters’ research contracts in roughly three hours, even fitting in a couple of casual games within that period, testing out some of the shells.

Another big addition to the game (and do we mean BIG) comes in the way of the new Glutton Ghost type, which includes Afterlife‘s metal-devouring Muncher and two new characters created exclusively for Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, Spew and Heap. Being able to eat objects found within the map, earning a machine gun-like projectile attack, check out the Glutton in action below.
