Ghostbusters Ecto-1 arrives in the UK ahead of sequel filming

Last month, Film & Television Industry Alliance stated that filming for the upcoming Gil Kenan-directed Ghostbusters sequel, currently codenamed Firehouse, would begin this March in London, United Kingdom. While Sony has yet to confirm, the report has proved seemingly accurate, with co-writer and producer Jason Reitman and cinematographer Eric Steelberg recently sharing images from London, with pre-production reportedly well underway.

While it’s still unsure what kind of role the United Kingdom will play in the film’s story, either taking the franchise to an entirely new location or instead merely doubling for New York, it appears that it won’t be long until the Ecto-1 is seen barreling down city streets, as the iconic film car has been spotted touching down in Scotland.

A handful of images have found their way online, with the Ectomobile being seen arriving at the Glasgow Prestwick Airport, roughly two weeks ahead of the kick-off to the reported March 6th shoot date.

Details have been highly scarce regarding the film’s production and plot. The only bit of information we have to go on, outside of the filming location, is co-writers Kenan & Reitman’s confirmation that it would pick up following the events of Afterlife.

“The last time we saw Ecto-1, it was driving back into Manhattan: the home of Ghostbusters. That’s where our story begins.

Last week, as part of an interview with The Howard Stern Show, Ernie Hudson further confirmed the Film & Television Industry Alliance report, stating, “We’re negotiating a new movie that’s gearing up to start shooting in March.”

Regarding the upcoming sequel, in addition to Hudson, recent reports have confirmed that both Paul Rudd and Carrie Coon will return alongside Finn Wolfhard and Mckenna Grace.

With the sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife slated to arrive in theaters on December 20th, 2023, keep posted to Ghostbusters News and subscribe to our YouTube channel for future updates.
