From featuring different Slimer designs to confirmation of a multiplayer map taking influence from The Shining, we very well may have an unhealthy obsession with Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed concept art, with today’s feature continuing that trend, providing an incredibly early look at the game’s most prominent and iconic location.
The official Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed socials have provided players a look at the art depicting the exterior of Hook & Ladder 8, otherwise known as the Ghostbusters Headquarters, appearing very much as it currently stands in New York City.

Aside from the stark visual difference, which was very early in the design phase, hence the more simplistic-looking pedestrians, the game’s most apparent creative liberty, relocating Ray’s Occult next door to the firehouse, is not present. In Spirits Unleashed, the bookstore expands the overworld hub, allowing players to chat it up with Ray Stantz and giving access to the ghost world.
While on the topic of concept art, a few weeks back, artist Jay Doherty uploaded a handful of designs from Spirits Unleashed‘s Halloween event. The limited-time spooky season celebration added various masks to help customize characters, from a maddening clown to a spine-chilling pumpkin head. Still, our favorite was a stitched-together monster that was at one point going to appear more in the realm of classic horror, taking heavy influence from Frankenstein’s Monster, with the concepts revealing a handful of alternate designs.

If you’re in the mood for more-the-behind content surrounding Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, last month, I had the opportunity to sit down with Illfonic Chief Creative Officer Jared Gerritzen and Design Director Jordan Mathewson to talk about the game’s development, first free DLC update, and what additions players can expect later this year.
