New Ghostbusters sequel set photo sees director “lensing up” with Ecto Goggles

With filming of the next Ghostbusters sequel, codenamed Firehouse, beginning later this month in the United Kingdom, co-writer and producer Jason Reitman has again taken to social media, dropping another behind-the-scenes set photo, this time of director and co-writer Gil Kenan.

In the photo, Kenan can be seen throwing up a peace sign or possibly doing his best impression of the Ghostbusters II logo while wearing a go-to piece of ghost-busting hardware, the Ecto Goggles!

Worn by the character of Ray Stantz in the first two Ghostbusters films, the goggles have seen a slight makeover in every iteration, with their biggest coming in 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, adding the functionality of a Polaroid camera and being used by series newcomer, Podcast. No word yet on if Firehouse will add anything new to the goggles, but from the pair Kenan is wearing, the Polaroid functionality appears to be gone, giving the prop a slightly cleaner look, more akin to their original design.

As part of our exclusive report last week, Firehouse will begin filming within the coming weeks, with Columbia Pictures Ghost Corps eyeing up a three-month shoot, expected to wrap in late June.

With the majority of those at Columbia Pictures Ghost Corps in London as pre-production is well underway, there’s already been additional sneak peeks ahead of filming, as in addition to leaks, late last month, co-writer Jason Reitman provided fans their first official look at the recreated interior of the Ghostbusters firehouse set.

Firehouse is currently slated to arrive in theaters on December 20th, 2023. Keep checking Ghostbusters News and subscribe to our YouTube channel for future updates and exclusive coverage.
