When not questioning the director of the untitled Ghostbusters sequel about vegan cheese, Bill Murray can apparently be found on the streets of London, further fueling speculation of his return in the follow-up to Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
Spotted on Instagram, Murray is pictured alongside @londonsfinestdrive, a London-based taxi driver with a knack for celebrity encounters, who captioned the photo, “Look who interrupted my lunch.”
In a recent interview with The Film Collective, Ghostbusters star Ernie Hudson garnered attention, not only confirming his involvement in the upcoming film but attaching Dan Aykroyd, Annie Potts, and seemingly Bill Murray, saying:
“It’s great to be back with Danny and Bill and Annie Potts and the new cast. It’s been forty years, it just feels like family.“
For total transparency, Hudson’s could’ve either meant Murray or, instead, William Atherton, who, in leaked photographs, was spotted near the set.
One original Ghostbusters star who won’t be returning is Sigourney Weaver, who, last week, while promoting the film Master Gardner, told Collider:
“No, I mean, I wasn’t asked to be in this Ghostbusters, and I think, you know, a little of us goes a long way.”
At this time, Sony’s confirmed cast list for the upcoming Ghostbusters sequel includes Afterlife stars Paul Rudd and Carrie Coon, along with Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, James Acaster, and Emily Alyn Lind. Per previous reports, fans can also expect to see the returns of Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Logan Kim, and Celeste O’Connor.
If you happened to have missed yesterday’s random bit of “news,” Ghostbusters sequel director Gil Kenan’s Instagram story featured a screengrab of a rather humorous text message that he had received from Murray, with the actor simply asking, “What is vegan cheese?”
Production of the Ghostbusters sequel began in the UK on March 20th, with filming expected to last until July and slated to arrive in theaters on December 20th, 2023.
