Last weekend, Motor City Comic Con hosted a pretty heavy 1980s crossing of the streams that saw Back to the Future‘s Christopher Lloyd meet the Ghostbusters!
In a new photo, Lloyd is stationed inside a replica of the DeLorean time machine, being joined by local franchise group Ghostbusters Detroit, seen wearing their khaki best, complete with unlicensed nuclear accelerators, in addition to cosplays of sassy secretary Janine Melnitz and film baddy Gozer the Gozerian.

The charity-driven crew thanked those who showed up over the weekend-long event, including one fan who was said to have “traveled through the space-time continuum just to get a photo” before going “back to the future.” Great Scott!
For those curious, the DeLorean, a replica of the vehicle seen in Back to the Future 2, is from Ohio Time Machine Rental, and in addition to Llloyd, last weekend saw Run-DMC’s Darryl McDaniels pose for a photo. We can only hope he then promptly made his way to the Ghostbusters booth, breaking into a live rendition of “Ghostbusters Rap.”
This wasn’t the first time that Lloyd has had a run-in with the Ghostbusters, as in addition to voicing Back to the Future‘s Dr. Emmett Brown in 2015’s Lego Dimensions video game, being paired with virtual incarnations of New York City’s premiere paranormal eliminators, he also worked with Universal Studios, promoting 1990 launch of their Florida theme park.
While not the Doc Brown meets Egon Spengler crossover we had all likely hoped for, the vignette swaps out the Ghostbusters with the time-traveling scientist, having him go one-on-one with the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, leaving Lloyd doused in marshmallow goo.
