We’ve featured plenty of mods for Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered over the years, giving fans everything from animated makeovers to upgraded visuals, and in today’s feature, modder sakis720 is giving PC players the chance to replace the Rookie throughout the game’s campaign with the Ghoul, Mayor Jock Mulligan, a Zombie, and even Walter Peck.

First up are the Ghoul and Mayor Jock Mulligan, both originally offered as multiplayer pre-order bonuses for the 2009 release of Ghostbusters: The Video Game. Primarily distributed through select retailers in the United States, neither character was widely available and, with multiplayer omitted from the remaster, both were left unplayable within the updated release.

The new mods now give fans a much easier way to play as either unlikely recruit, whether taking the cemetery-dwelling Ghoul back to his old stomping grounds or putting the fate of New York City directly into the mayor’s hands.

The fun doesn’t stop with the original pre-order bonuses, as sakis720 has also dug into the game’s unused content, restoring the Zombie, a planned multiplayer character that never received an official release.

Then there’s Walter Peck, with a suited-up rendition of the former Environmental Protection Agency inspector hidden within the original game’s files, complete with a Ghostbusters uniform, proton pack, and personalized name patch, suggesting that the team’s longtime nemesis was once considered as another multiplayer character.

While Peck never officially got the chance to join the team, the updated mod finally lets him strap on an unlicensed nuclear accelerator, bust a few heads, and work alongside his favorite adversary, Dr. Peter Venkman. Given their history, we’re sure the two will get along just fine, as long as Peck, much like the Rookie, keeps his mouth shut.

All four character mods are entirely free and available to download now through Nexus Mods, exclusively supporting the PC version of Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered. Installation requires the free GBTVGR Mod Manager, also available through Nexus Mods.
